Sir David Attenborough’s 100th Birthday celebration
Sir David Attenborough says Thank You to Farsley and Rodley residents…….
Sir David Attenborough selected our charity as a recipient of his Wild Isles Charitable Foundation four years ago.
He supports our community asset with both funding and advice, to assist with the development of our beautiful natural site.
In honour and appreciation of his generosity and time, the Friends of Farsley Rehoboth organised a 100th birthday celebration on Friday 8th May 2026.
The event was attended by our Volunteers, Corporate Partners, the choir from Valley View Community Primary School and Nima Poovaya-Smith OBE, Deputy Lieutenant, West Yorkshire.
To mark this auspicious occasion, we undertook the planting of a Sycamore sapling by Nima and specialist tree volunteer, Peter Robinson.
A presentation took place of a King`s Award for Voluntary Service Certificate, Crystal and individual badges to the staff and children of Valley View Community Primary School for their support over the past seven years.
There were delicious and unique David Attenborough buns, kindly provided by the The Farsley Cake Co
Also a free raffle with an assortment of David Attenborough themed prizes.
A special birthday banner, kindly donated by Sunnybank Mills
We had a lovely celebration and film and photographs are being sent with love to David Attenborough.
