“Robin’s Nest lives up to it’s name!

In the first lines from 'The Hounds of Baskerville': Sherlock Holmes says: 'People say there's no such thing as coincidence. What dull lives they must lead”.

We can guarantee from the last six years of Rehoboth activity that the world is full of coincidences.

On 30th May 2022, we affixed a wood sign to the front of our stone shelter with the words “Robin’s Nest” in recognition of our chief builder of the shelter, (which was built from 10 tonnes of reclaimed Yorkshire Stone, excavated when building our accessible paths).

Nearly three years later what we intended as a dedication has also turned into a description.

A family of Robins (feathered variety with red breasts – photo attached), have built their nest in the shelter, directly above where we make hot drinks and are protecting their territory, so much so, that they have taken charge of the shelter clearly telling the volunteers “Keep out, it’s ours…..” (by flapping their wings furiously when we enter, followed by staring intently).

Last Tuesday they were joined by a duck accompanied by ten ducklings that marched through our entrance area and carried out a full inspection of the left hand side of the Rehoboth. There is a reel of the duck visit on our Instagram:
