Welding and making the gates accessible

May - June 2019

Prior to the official opening on 22nd June 2019, a key task was to make safe and restore the two entrance gates which were severely dilapidated, with some of the iron structure rotted away and missing.

The start point, as seen in the photographs, was to angle grind through the chains. Over a period of weeks the rotten iron was replaced and welded to the main structure of the gates.

The work was undertaken by Andy Turner and was completed in time for our Open Day on 22nd June 2019, and the gates are the sole point of entrance.
