Clearing the wild "D" section and "The Glade" below

The “D” Section of the Rehoboth is bordered at its top boundary by the recently renovated road and “The Glade” which runs immediately from the right as you step into the entrance.

The graves in this section are primarily from the 1920’s through to the 1950’s and despite being relatively recent have suffered the most damage and neglect due to ivy, brambles and roots.

Reclamation work began in summer 2020 although affected by Covid “Lockdown 2”, an unsurfaced path was cleared in “The Glade” to provide access and also the location for our electricity supply planned for summer 2021. Stumps are being removed by a none invasive chain and pulley method.

During this work we have finally found the location of “The Cherub” that many visitors have told us they used to place flowers on as children.  It’s the grave of Betty Wooler aged 3 who died in 1936. We have uncovered the base and hope to find the complete statue as the clearing continues.
