Planting, seeding and growing

Starting in September 2023 there has been coordinated activity to establish plants and bulbs, as well as sowing seeds in all areas of the Rehoboth, all undertaken by the volunteers.

On 17th September a 250 square metre wildflower meadow was planted behind our Coal Hill Lane perimeter wall, with seeds donated by Palmer Landscapes. For many years this area had been filled with buried bags of rubbish and flytipping. The rubbish and stumps were removed and the soil rejuvenated prior to planting.

On Good Friday 2024 the first flower was spotted with the whole meadow due to flower by May 2024.

In addition, bulbs have been planted in many areas, including the borders of our new ashes plots. Poppies and Wood Anemones were planted by our war graves. The choice of plants have been governed by the Rehoboth ecology; clay soil which is frequently damp and our tree cover.

We look forward to welcoming visitors to see the new plants.
