11th November 2021 Armistice Day Service

Thursday, 11th November 2021, saw a well attended and poignant remembrance service for Armistice Day. Attended by Jon Hammond-Booth, DL. Deputy Lord Lieutenant, West Yorkshire and officiated by Reverend Gareth Howles with Bugler, Darren Walker. We had young attendees from Valley View School, All Stars Nursery and students from West SILC, all of whom participated in wreath laying and the placement of poppies on our War and Remembered Graves.

Our gate poppies and two framed poems by Emma Hogarth have attracted a lot of interest and visitors.  Emma read her new remembrance poem during the service.

To quote Jon Hammond-Booth DL:

“An honour to attend @farsleyrehoboth on Armistice Day  on behalf of @LordLtWY to commemorate the fallen. A touching service and hugely impressed with the way that volunteers have cleared up an overgrown cemetery into something very special.”
